GAZA Humanitarian Situation Report 24-30 JulyProduction capacity in the furniture sector, one of the most important sectors in Gaza, has dropped to less than 20% and 80% of the furniture industry’s workers have been laid off. / The Gaza municipality workers went on strike on 29 July as a result of nonpayment of salaries. Solid waste workers are likely to join in the next two days. The municipality has been unable to pay regular staff salaries due to the 50% decline in revenues. / On 29 and 30 July, 414 Palestinians who were stranded in Egypt for nearly two months (51 days) returned to Gaza through Nitzana Border Crossing and then Erez Crossing. Additional returns to Gaza are planned in the coming days. 3/8/2007
Report: “33 killed, 300 kidnapped in July”IMEMC - "The Foundation of International Solidarity for Human Rights published a report revealing that Israeli troops shot and killed 33 residents during the month of July, and kidnapped 300 residents. One of the killed residents was a child, and nine were extra-judicially assassinated by the army."2/8/2007
