Although hoping to capitalize on the energy of a surprisingly successful grassroots internet campaign that seemed to sweep the whole country last week, the protesters had all the hallmark attributes of a left-wing demonstration: large red flags associated with Hadash, the far-left Jewish-Arab party, calls for the Netanyahu government to resign, and no Israeli flags. dn25/3/2012

The humanitarian impact of the takeover of Palestinian water springs by Israeli settlers United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)-Special Focus - In recent years, Israeli settler activity in the West Bank has significantly impaired Palestinian access to, and use of, a growing number of water springs. Springs are the single largest source of water for irrigation in the West Bank and an important coping mechanism for communities not connected to a water network, or poorly supplied, to meet domestic and livelihood needs. The main methods used by settlers to that end have been intimidation and threats, and the erection of fences around the targeted areas.-rh21/3/2012

Abandoned in JerusalemYehudit Oppenheimer--The horrifying accident that took place near the Adam roadblock north of Jerusalem last month, in which six Palestinian children and their teacher were killed, and dozens of other children were injured, raises a great many questions. The racist remarks and the schadenfreude that were documented by visitors to the Facebook page of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the tragedy are indeed shocking. What is no less shocking is that the Prime Minister`s Bureau did not hasten to remove them. But the ongoing preoccupation with such reactions deflects attention from a much more substantive issue - the unbearable existential situation with which the residents of this section of Jerusalem are forced to contend on a daily basis and the way in which Israeli authorities completely ignore their living conditions. dn4/3/2012

Irtach/ Sha’ar Efraim MachsomWatch report - Annelien Kisch "The main problem is: the fence leading towards entrance (the first turnstiles) is vandalized and so there does no longer exist an organized queue as people cut in on those waiting their turn; people are almost being crushed and women hardly dare to enter. So the first thing is: someone has to repair the fence properly and make it more solid .Also: people are complaining about the (in)human treatment: they are not only being talked to with rudeness and coarseness, but being “forgotten” in the rooms sometimes for over an hour." ca30/3/2012
