This highly sensitive compound had been the site of the Jewish Temple 2000 years ago, but for the past 1300 years it is among the most sacred of Islam`s holy sites. Members of other religions are allowed to visit there, but not pray or perform any religious observances and rites. Feiglin asserted that he was acting under authorization from God and also claimed to be "defending civil liberties".
