That was on Sunday, May 30, at one in the afternoon, a few hours before the raid on the Turkish ship "Mavi Marmara." The news broadcast on Israel Radio`s Reshet Bet stated that a number of hospitals reported they had been instructed not to give any information to the media in the event that wounded were brought to them after the flotilla was blocked from entering Israel`s territorial waters. It is not clear why the news item was not mentioned in subsequent broadcasts nor why it did not appear in any other media. It is clear that among those who were involved in planning the campaign, there were people who were not surprised by the welcome the Israeli soldiers received on board the vessel." 22/6/2010

Israeli Discrimination: Beyond Borders Joharah Baker - MIFTAH - Palestinians, therefore, must leave the country through Jordan via the Allenby Bridge. My children, given that they have neither a Jordanian nor a Palestinian passport, cannot travel from Jordan. I of course, cannot travel from Ben Gurion. So, this is what we do when their father, the original Jerusalemite, is not traveling with us. The first time, I was taking my then much younger kids to the United States to issue them US passports. My father (who only has US citizenship) flew them out of Ben Gurion and met me later that night in Jordan (after I crossed the bridge earlier that day). On the way back, I had my sister, who is also only an American citizen, meet me in Jordan to take the kids back with her to Tel Aviv`s airport. I crossed the bridge the second day. 16/6/2010

Some Creative Ways to counter the OccupationThe desire for a permanent house is a most conventional desire in our society. ... But what seems to be such a conventional desire in many societies may prove rather unconventional in a society living under the conditions of prolonged Occupation. What if it Were Your Child? Joharah Baker - MIFTAH - It is common knowledge that confessions under torture are inadmissible in court, even for adults. The violations of children’s rights in these cases are off the charts, obviously. For one, the arrest of a child is only to be used as a “last resort”. Israel arrests 700 children on average every year from the West Bank. Furthermore, the Fourth Geneva Convention stipulates that each and every person is entitled to a fair trial, something Palestinians in general, children included do not have. 2/6/2010

Israeli State War Against Ameer Makhoul : Interview with Ameer`s wife Jadan AbduNadia Hijab - Tikun Olam - We believe that the main purpose of arresting Ameer – other than to frighten the community – is to silence his voice. His voice is significant for many reasons. He has been writing many strategic, forward-looking pieces to help shape thinking among the community and elsewhere. When I visit with him I urge him to keep writing. He’s allowed to send two letters a month. And I write to him and I’m keeping a journal so we can document his story. 24/6/2010

And the captain said, okay, and he didn’t even care that I had no ID on me, and said, you come to my office at such and such a time. And then he asked me, what’s your name? He asked so that the soldier would note it in their piece of paper. You understand? He’s not looking for me. He has no idea what my name is. Just to summon me to him like that in the middle of the village. 24/6/2010
