Monastery to be severed from convent by West Bank barrierNir Hasson - Haaretz - The Tel-AQviv Magistrate`s Court rejected an alternative route that was suggested, below Nahal Gilo, which would have allowed the farmland, the monastery and the convent to remain on the Palestinian side, on the grounds that the route would not be secure as it would run along the low ground. The petitioners claimed that the route was designed for Israel to annex the settlement of Har Gilo to the Israeli side of the barrier and, in the future, to connect it with the Gilo neighborhood of Jerusalem. bz28/4/2013

This American Life’ shines some light on that Palestinian lifeHenry Norr - Mondoweiss "Last week’s episode of “This American Life,” ...by Nancy Updike,... gets a different answer when she starts asking former Israeli soldiers who have taken part is such nighttime operations, ... about their purpose. Yehuda Shaul, the heroic co-founder of Breaking the Silence, explain(s) to her that their superiors actually had no interest in the notes and photos they collected during such exercises - in fact, they routinely directed the soldiers simply to discard everything."The real goal of these operations, the former soldiers explain, is to “make your presence felt,” to convince every Palestinian that “We`re breathing behind you." ca26/4/2013
