Moving house in Hebron: Mission all but impossible | | B`Tselem - In July ‘Abd al-Jaber Hadad (26) was preparing to move with his wife and two children from an apartment they had rented in the neighborhood of Jabal Juhar to a more spacious apartment on a-Sahla Street. Palestinians are only allowed on foot in a-Sahla Street. Checkpoints have been placed at either end of the street – Checkpoint 160 at one end and the Pharmacy Checkpoint at the other. The new apartment lies just five meters away from the Pharmacy Checkpoint. But the family was forced in the summer heat to walk the furniture the long way. Will the Rafah Crossing open in September? | | Amira Hass - Haaretz - Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, told commentators
and journalists that the Rafah Crossing between Gaza and Egypt -
closed almost completley since 2014 - will very likely open to goods
and people in September. This seems to be the culmination of
prolonged efforts by Hamas to achieve rapprochement with General
Sisi`s regime in Cairo. Muhammad Dahlan, the fierce opponent of
Palestinian Authority President Abbas, seems also involved in the
deal. A reopening of Rafah will alleviate the
deteriorating conditions in Gaza, and there are some 20,000 Gazans
waiting for the permit to leave the Strip. However, nothing is
certain until the crossing is actually opened. The few Palestinians
who were able to move through Sinai reported a rough treatment at
Egyptian Army checkpoints. [ak] | 22/8/2017 |

Sea of Hope | | New Israel Fund -
"The group of over 50 Palestinians from Bethlehem who recently came
to Tel Aviv was among 1,500 West Bank Palestinians who had an
opportunity to spend time in the Mediterranean this summer thanks to
the “Sea Day” recently organized by NIF grantee Machsom Watch. The
program, which has been operating for 10 years, brought 20 groups of
Palestinians to Israel’s Mediterranean coast by bus, mainly women
and children who had never seen the sea before." ca | 18/8/2017 |

New graffiti on Israeli separation wall denounces Trump obsession with barriers | | Ma`an - Shortly after midnight, a foreign man was seen perched on a
ladder spray-painting a military tower embedded in the Israeli
Separation Wall adjacent to Bethlehem and Aida refugee camp. Once
finished, the mural revealed a large-scale portrait of US President
Donald Trump embracing the watchtower, with a thought bubble reading
"I am going to build you a brother." The painting of this mural
coincided with The Washington Post releasing the transcript of a
phone conversation between Trump and Mexican President Enrique Pena
Nieto, where Trump cited the Israeli Separation Wall as a precedent
for his own planned wall on the US-Mexican border. [ak] | 8/8/2017 |

Demolition orders strike al-Walaja as Separation Wall stretches through Hebron | | Ahmad Jaradat - AIC - "[...] on Thursday the Israeli Authority finished constructing
more of the separation wall in the Hebron district, starting from the town of
Tarkomia in the west and stretching 42km to Yatta, south of Hebron. The
separation wall has separated thousands of agricultural dunams and cut off
access to important economic resources, primarily olive trees" [ry] | 7/8/2017 |
