The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil,    but because of the people who don't do anything about it
Settlements

In Divided Hebron, a Shared Despair : Palestinians and Jewish Settlers in West Bank City Struggle for ExistenceScott Wilson - Washington Post - "Within Hebron, the separation is enforced not only by Israeli barriers but also by military checkpoints and curfews intended to protect the roughly 700 Jewish settlers living within the city`s most historic and religiously important areas. Securing the small Jewish minority has a potent impact on the lives of the city`s 150,000 Arabs, who voted last year to fill all nine of the district`s parliamentary seats with candidates from the armed Islamic movement Hamas." 26/7/2007
Let`s plea bargainCharley Warady - Ynet - "By mere definition, an "illegal settlement" probably doesn`t have the necessary permits to build and house people. And yet, there they are. They even have army protection!"25/7/2007
Construction and development of settlements beyond the official limits of jurisdiction - July 2007Dror Etkes and Hagit Ofran - "A special report presented by the “Peace Now” Settlement Watch - This report was written in order to achieve three goals: A. Expose the system of considerations which guided the architects of the settlement project when they drew up the boundaries of settlement jurisdiction; B. Discuss the way that Israeli governments used these jurisdiction to promote and reinforce their political goals, first and foremost of which was the expansion of the settlement project; and C. Provide an accurate comparison between the official and actual boundaries of the settlements."24/7/2007
Police: Settlers` papers on Hebron building were forgedDan Izenberg - Jerusalem Post - The police Crimes Investigation Department has concluded that documents presented by two Jewish companies meant to prove they legally purchased the Beit Hashalom four-storey building in Hebron from Palestinians were either forged or there is substantial doubt as to their authenticity, the state informed the High Court of Justice on Tuesday. The information was included in a reply by the state meant to update the court on the eve of a hearing, scheduled for Wednesday, on a petition by Mahmud Regbi, a Palestinian who claims to own the building.4/7/2007
Settlements continue to be builtThe Jerusalem Post - "The [radio] station said Wednesday morning that 100 new housing units were being built in the West Bank by the Amana settlement movement, and that most of the units had already been sold. According to the report, Amana was also negotiating the sale of more potential units, which would be built in the future. "We meet foreign ministers around the world, tell them that building in the settlements has stopped, and it seems we are just lying to them," the diplomat said. "3/7/2007
The kind of tourism which is promoted by the Israeli Ministry of TourismReport of Dorothy Naor on a tourism pamphlet advertising excursions and routes that include illegal outposts. "Especially interesting to note in the pamphlet is the map of the area. It shows nary a single Palestinian village, even though in actuality the area is full of Palestinian communities—many more than the settlements, as any OCHA and B’tselem map of the area shows. The map reveals the desire not only of the settlers, but also of two agencies involved in co-publishing the pamphlet: the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and the Jewish National Fund. And if things continue in the West Bank as they have been since 1967, it is very likely that this map is a forecast of what the region will look like by perhaps as soon as 2010. Presently, approximately ˝ a million Palestinians reside in the area from Hebron south to the Hebron Hills and the Yatir region. Will they be forced out?".
