A little episode from Hebron on Simhat Tora, 21.10.08Roni Hammermann - Machsomwatch - A notorious member of the Hebron Jewish community, Baruch Marzel, saw the officer who was talking with us. He came over, impatiently caught hold of the officer`s arm to drag him to the other side of the street: "Now you have to take care of this TV team. They want to film us!" Church of Sweden exposes Swedish company`s involvement in illegal West Bank settlement Odate Hanna - Diakonia website - A comprehensive October 2008 report reveals that the Swedish company Assa Abloy, producer of lock and security solutions, owns a factory in the illegal Barkan settlement on the West Bank. The report addresses corporate responsibility as well as individual responsibility of directors for breaching international law as well as the cpmpany`s own Code of Conduct. Specifically, it is noted that Assa Abloy acquired settlement assets such as the leasehold for the factory - which amounts to pillage, a crime under international humanitarian law. 21/10/2008

A restaurant, a climbing tower, a football field and a park line up on successive terraces down the hillside. The municipal government of Bayt Sahour plans to erect a hospital and a sports center as well. But the land is still classified as Area C, as the 1993 Oslo agreement called those regions of the occupied Palestinian territories that were to remain under direct Israeli military control pending a comprehensive peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA). So the municipality must apply to the Israeli Civil Administration, the military government in control of most of the West Bank, for permission to build on the site.9/10/2008

Israeli employers have found ways of evading the high court ruling by for instance issuing pay slips with false attendance reports. Palestinian landowners, helped by Israeli activists, sue state for failure to evacuate illegal settlement outpost Yesh Din /PMC - “Migron” is the most well-known of the "illegal" or "unauthorised" settlemenent outposts which Israel had repeatedly promised to evacuate since 2003. Now, in an unprecedented legal action, the Israeli human rights organization Yesh Din on behalf of five Palestinian landowners demands compensation from the State of Israel for the assistance it provided to builders of the outpost as well as for its failure to evacuate it. 7/10/2008
Olmert`s words got lost between Beit El and Ariel According to the latest data from the Peace Now movement, during Ehud Olmert`s term of office, at least 4,056 new housing units were built in the West Bank, and tenders were published for another 1,433 units. At least 1,304 of these units, some 40 percent, were built east of the separation fence - meaning outside the "settlement blocs." which according to Olmert`s words were the only parts he wanted to keep. In East Jerusalem, tenders were published for 2,437 housing units, compared with 2,092 in the two and a half years that preceded his coming to power. 7/10/2008
