Barak authorizes creation of a university at the settlement of Ariel Yonah Jeremy Bob, Yoni Dayan, Tovah Lazaroff - Jerusalem Post - Defense Minister Barak, whose carrer seems near its end, issues the directive for the college at the West Bank settlement of Ariel to be upgraded to full university status. The move, highly controversial and contested on academic as well as political grounds, seems part of the Netayahu government`s efforts to stop voters from going over to Naftali Bennet`s extreme right "Jewish Home Party".
