Several banks in Nablus suspended work at 10 a.m. Monday protesting a PA decision to levy a new tax ranging from three to 30 percent on benefits of both civil servants and private sector employees.
Dozens of employees organized a picket in front of the Arab Bank in the city center. They raised banners demanding the cancellation of the decision.
Arab Bank employees union chief Jamal Al-Barq told Ma’an that the union would consider future protests depending on the government’s response.
