Israeli army arrests 11 Islamic Jihad members in West Bank
Agence France Presse
22 June 2005
JERUSALEM June 22-- Eleven members of the radical Palestinian group
Islamic Jihad were arrested overnight by Israeli troops in the West
Bank, including eight in the southern town of Bethlehem, the
military said Wednesday.
The latest arrests mean that more than 60 members of the
organisation have been arrested this week after the Israeli army,
which had been holding back on arrest operations, decided `to take
the gloves off` with Jihad.
The faction is meant to be observing a de facto truce but it was
involved in two deadly attacks on Sunday and Monday.
