Occupation magazine - Life under occupation Home page  back Print  Send To friend Witnesses: Hamas fighter killed by Israeli forces By Ma`an News Agency http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=279431 Hebron – Ma`an – Israeli forces besieged the home of a prominent Hamas fighter on Monday morning in Beit Awwa, southern Hebron, and later killed him, witnesses said. Eyewitnesses told Ma`an that Israeli soldiers were seen taking Ali Sweiti`s body after demolishing the home of his wife`s sister, where he was believed to be hiding. An Israeli military spokesman said he would look into the reports. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that the home was detonated with Sweiti inside and that clashes ensued with Palestinians and Israeli forces in the village. According to the Israeli daily Haaretz, Sweiti was said to have exchanged fire with Israeli forces troops as they closed in the West Bank house where he is thought to be hiding. By mid-morning, the army was preparing to put an end to the siege by demolishing the building.
