Join the South Hebron Hills children to protest settler violence - At-Tuwani, Oct 23. 2013
Join the children of the South Hebron Hills for an action against settler
violence and impunity, At-Tuwani, Oct 23. 2013

WHERE: At-Tuwani, South Hebron Hills
WHEN: Oct 23rd 11am

Each weekday, children from the village of Tuba must walk past Ma’on Settlement
and Havat Ma’on Outpost on their way to school in At-Tuwani. These children face
daily threats of violence from the inhabitants of these illegal settlements. In
2005, in response to local and international pressure, the Knesset’s Children
Rights Committee ruled that the Israeli army must provide these children with a
military escort to protect them from settler attacks. In contravention of this
directive however, the army frequently neglects their responsibility, thus
forcing the children to walk a long, circuitous route in order to attend daily
classes. Without protection these children are effectively exposed to further
risk of attack.

To bring attention to the Israeli army’s neglect of duty, and the broader issue
of settler violence, the South Hebron Hills Popular Committee invites you to
join them for an action tomorrow (Oct 23rd) at 11am. The Freedom Theatre’s
Freedom Bus troupe will perform accounts shared by local children. Other
Palestinian and International artists will also perform. The action will
commence at At-Tuwani`s school and move to the hilltop near Ma’on Settlement.
