Gaza, which we must not forget
Sol Salbe translated what he calls Haggai Matar`s  heart felt facebook message (9.12.`13) about Gaza, which we must not forget:

Gaza: the electrical power network has collapsed. So have the water and sewage systems. There are reports of surgery being conducted by candlelight. It`s has been a long time since mortars or rockets have been fired from Gaza, and Hamas is actually functioning as Israel`s sheriff (according to Israeli security officials), but the naval blockade and the ban on exports remain. They used to say that it was for security reasons, because who knows what the Gazan farmers would hide among the strawberries and flowers that they want to sell to Europe. So the Dutch bought an uber-clever scanner [to check the trucks]. But then Israel said that the point of blockade wasn`t what they may hide but `an isolation policy` [keeping Gaza isolated from the West Bank]. Thus the machine lies idle, and the berries and flowers are not going anywhere soon. International agencies are cutting back their assistance and Egypt has been destroying tunnels. There are more than a million and a half people affected. Next door, not far away at all. Under siege. Slowly , slowly they are being erased from the map and our consciousness. Out of sight, still in our hearts.
