How Israel Lost the War
Reuven Kaminer
The length of the Israeli offensive in Gaza and the ability of Hamas to stay on its feet till now has created space for all the regional forces to enter the competition of shaping post-war Gaza. The US cannot disregard trusted allies like Qatar and Turkey who want in diplomatically, especially as relations with Sisi are still unstable. Qatar has money and Turkey is in NATO. Even if Israel wipes out 90% of the Hamas infrastructure in a month of high casualty fighting, in the present diplomatic juncture, Israel has fallen into a deep and dark no-win rut. Hamas will be present in the discussion on the future of Gaza and this means defeat for Israel. Even blaming Kerry will not help.
