Email sent by Combatants for Peace office@combatantsforpeace.org

This Friday is Naksa Day, which marks the 1967 war and the beginning of the occupation in the West Bank. On this day we will march in solidarity with the residents of the Palestinian village of Susya, facing deportation and the takeover by settlers on their land. Shuttles will leave at 8:00 from Tel Aviv, at 9:00 from Jerusalem, and 9:30 from Beer Sheva. Please register in this form.

Estimated time of return is 14:00
Please bring a hat, water, sunscreen and a snack.

About the struggle:
The Palestinian village of Susya, located in Area C in south Hebron, where the southern group of CfP operates, has been there for over a century. Due to the planning policy of the Civil Administration in Area C, systematically blocking any possibility for planning and building permits in Palestinians, the village has not received his master plan approval and risk of deportation has been hovering over their heads. Since 2001 there is a takeover by settlers on the lands of the village, accompanied by violent harassment, with the aim to push the Palestinian residents from their lands. This month the Supreme Court allowed the Civil Administration to destroy the village, which will lead once again to deportation of the villagers, even before the master plan has been submitted. The deportation will leave hundreds of families homeless during the summer months, without a solution and in a situation where they will be refugees on their own land and have nowhere to go. Susya is one village, but its threat is the story of many villages in Palestine, where lives are threatened every day by the occupation. This is a broad trend of trying to push the Palestinians into Area A, who makes up a minority of the West bank. We must resist the dangerous precedent of the deportation of Susya residents.

Please note! We consider it necessary to inform that the situation in Susya is sensitive, in terms of the settlers from the area who oppose the protest, and in term of the army. We’d like to emphasize that CfP is a bi-national movement advocating non-violence. In all of our activities we emphasize on non-violent protest.
