Russell Patient‎

Palestinian photojournalist & author Hamde Abu Rahma has been denied a visa
to enter the UK twice. He is a phenomenal artist and man...as well as a
credit to Palestine.
He deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and allowed to enter the
UK to showcase his work.

have received numerous `automatic` replies from the MPs I`ve written to,
however, there won`t be any real contact until this Bank holiday weekend is
over.
I have always known that MPs,under parliamentary regulations, aren`t able to
help with cases outside of their constituency...although,perhaps naively, as
all of the MPs I listed previously in this group belong to the Labour
Friends of Palestine & Middle East, I naturally assumed they could be
contacted directly in regards to an issue relating to Palestine.
Apparantly this isn`t the case so I have updated the MP list in the group to
include each MPs constituency. I would advise that, if you live in one of
those constituencies, you contact the MP directly...
Therefore, given this annoyance, I wrote an indepth letter regarding Hamde`s
case to the lfpme directly and I suggest we all do this...as many people
writing to them about Hamde will demand their attention...the email for the
lfpme is:
info@lfpme.org
I have also sent indepth letters to both the Minister of Immigration James
Brokenshire & the Director General of UK visas Sarah Rapson imploring them
to look into Hamde`s case.
I have also contacted Martina Anderson`s advisors and will hopefully hear
back in the week.
I will,of course, continue to update everyone in regards to any
replies, support or advice I receive. Please continue to tweet to
MPs,Palestinian support organizations, and also media outlets such as
Mondoweiss,RT,Haaretz, independent UK news groups etc...we need to have
Hamde`s situation highlighted by as many people as possible....reach out to
Max Blumenthal,John Snow,Chris Hedges etc..

A piece of good news: Just received the following FB message from Sandra
White MSP
` Many thanks for this email Russell. I am in Parliament today but will look
in to the matter and get back to you asap.
Kind regards,
Sandra `

As I mentioned , if you write to an MP outside of your constituency you will
receive a reply informing you that they can`t help you and you should
contact your own MP ,however, if anyone lives in Burnley and has Julie
Cooper as their MP she seems as if she will be happy to look into this for
us based on the below reply.
So far she`s the only MP to have said she`d happily look into it for one of
her constituents...so , can any members who live in Burnley please direct
Miss Cooper to this group URL and outline what we are campaigning
for...thanks!
Dear Russell
As you may be aware parliamentary protocol dictates that MPs may only reply
in full to their own constituents.
As such please forward your full postal address and I would be happy to look
into this for you.
Yours sincerely
Julie Cooper MP
Constituency of Burnley

Here is a link for UK citizens to find the MP of your constituency...just
need to enter their postcode.

Under parliamentary regulations , only your own MP can help you with
issues....so please look up who represents your area and, regardless of
political party, contact them about Hamde.
