| ISRAEL: END THE ATTACKS ON GAZA IMMEDIATELY! ENTER INTO GENUINE NEGOTIATIONS TO END THE OCCUPATION NOW!||Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) - Let`s be crystal clear. |Israel-Palestine Conflict: Declaration of Conscience||Ronnie Kasrils-whistlestopper-"As Jews we are deeply concerned that this military path, will in the long run imperil the very existence of the State of Israel, whatever its short term tactical gains might be. History shows that the violent repression of a people only breeds more intensive resistance. And that is exactly what has led to the often desperate measures of Palestinian resistance."(Ed. Note: This speech was given by Ronnie Kasrils in 2001; it is presented now as a reflection of the continued and worsening Occupation since then.)
|Gaza, You Are Not Alone!||Free Gaza Movement-Newsletter-"So, why do we get in, while other efforts are stopped by the Israeli authorities? Because we remove the "security" pretext. Amongst other things, we publicize our passenger list; we depart from a neutral European country; and we submit to a search by the Cypriot Port Authorities to verify that we are not carrying anything that can be considered a threat to Israel`s security. We sail from Cyprus waters, into international waters, directly into Gaza`s territorial waters, without entering Israeli waters. Israel realizes that it cannot stop us without using force against us, because we will not be turned around easily. President Abbas` statement that we coordinate with the Israelis was misinformed. However, Abbas was correct when he said that we are not really breaking the siege on Gaza. The Free Gaza Movement will continue to send boats to Gaza to challenge Israel`s imprisonment of 1.5 million Palestinians, and we will continue to work for freedom and justice for all of the Palestinian people."||26/12/2008|
|Neta Golan Arrested Leaving Gaza||ISM Media-Press Release/Scoop World-"Humanitarian needs, such as those faced by the Palestinian people of Gaza due to the Israeli siege, make non-violent acts that are clearly a response to this act of collective punishment necessary. |Legal opinion regarding the closure of the Gaza Strip||Sari Bashi-Gisha-"The closure of Gaza is neither a siege, nor a blockade, nor an economic sanction – it is an illegal act of collective punishment and stands in violation of both international and Israeli law. In the following paper, we seek to de-mystify the terminology being used and misused to describe the closure of Gaza in order to dispel any uncertainty regarding Israel`s responsibility towards residents of Gaza and accountability for the rights violations
occurring as result of the closure. We argue that the restrictions on freedom of movement in and out of Gaza constitute a closure aimed at civilians and undertaken for purposes of collective punishment – and are therefore illegal."||19/12/2008|
|Fighting on a different front||Ben White-Guardian.co.uk-"In contrast to the cliché-trapped media, and policy papers and peace plans that are a grand exercise in missing the point, the Shministim remind us that as you read this, the Palestinians are living another day corralled into enclaves, overlooked and encircled by colonies of settlers who exist in a parallel legal realm of privilege and domination. They remind us of the occupation, and also of hope, for they are some of the Israelis who choose to exchange the "privilege" of the IDF call-up, for the "great privilege of saying `No`"."||19/12/2008|

|Blockade-Busting Ship Arrives in Gaza for 4th Time||Ramzi Kysia- labournet-"We mounted this mission to give our solidarity to the people of Palestine and to highlight the strangulating conditions Israel causes in besieged Gaza. The inhumane effects of this siege threaten to stunt an entire generation - both in terms of physical and mental growth due to malnutrition, terrorization by bomb attacks, incursions and the use of sonic booms - but also in terms of the generation of students which have won places at academic institutions around the world but cannot fulfill them, and those undermined on the ground in Gaza by a lack of food, medicine, electricity, materials, and the peace and space to make use of them in.”"||10/12/2008|

One wonders how many international conventions the Israelis need to break before there is an actual global outcry and action against their repeated human rights abuses against Palestine.
