The Palestinian Peace NowHillel Schenker - The Times of Israel - Munib Al-Masri was one of the primary facilitators of the recent reconciliation agreement signed between Fatah and Hamas, a goal he had been working towards during the past seven years. The fact that he came to Tel Aviv in the midst of the crisis over the kidnapping of the three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank, and the assumption held be the Israeli government that Hamas is responsible, did not make things easy for him. Later in the day, it was revealed that the two suspected kidnappers are known to be members of Hamas from the Hebron area. Yet al- Masri defended the reconciliation as a great achievement, particularly since it was carried out on Fatah’s terms. [bz]28/6/2014

Attribution of Jerusalem as Israeli capital scrubbed from World Expo 2015 websiteBDS Italy - Last week, the website for the World Expo 2015, due next year in Milan, named Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel. BDS Italy pointed out in reaction that no country in the world recognizes Israel`s declaration of Jerusalem as its capital, that according to the UN Partition Resolution 1947 Jerusalem was to be a "Corpus Separatum" and that Israel`s unilaterally annexation of East Jerusalem was internationally condemned and caused embassies of various countries to move to Tel Aviv. The organizers of Expo 2015 and their partners - the Italian Ministry of the Economy, the Lombardy Region and the City and Province of Milan - chose to altogether remove the field "capital" from all country profiles of Expo 2015. ak24/6/2014

Presbyterian Divestment – A Jewish PerspectiveCantor Michael Davis - Jewish Voice for Peace/Tikkun - The lasting lesson taught me by involvement in the successful struggle of Hyatt hotel workers was that in any dispute between two parties of disparate power, the more powerful party will object to the involvement of third parties. In the Hyatt labor dispute, management wanted it to be resolved "between management and labor" and that the public should stay out. Israel is militarily, financially and politically by far the more powerful side in the Israel-Palestine conflict - is telling American Jews to stay out and leave Israel to deal with the Palestinians as it sees fit. But we did involve ourselves with the Hyatt workers, and we should be involved with the Palestinians. ak 17/6/2014

Zoabi: Kidnappers are not terrorists, they`re fighting occupation Lahav Harkov - Jerusalem Post - The kidnappers are not terrorists, MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad) said Tuesday. "They`re people who live under occupation and don`t see any way to change their reality. They are forced to use these means until Israel will wake up a little, until Israeli citizens and society will wake up and feel the suffering of the other," Zoabi said in an interview on Radio Tel Aviv. Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman responded "not only are the kidnappers terrorists, Hanin Zoabi is a terrorist too." ak 17/6/2014
