Activist from Nabi Saleh on a 6-week US lecture tour, spoke to third

aftermath the school came under strong attack. The Ithaca School
District superintendent listed as “egregious” several facts
addressed by Mr. Tamimi, including that Israel has broken
international human rights law, that in many instances Israelis have
killed Palestinians in the West Bank and that Israel controls the
resources in the occupied territory. The school responded by stating
that "bringing human rights activists from various countries into
the classroom is part of the curriculum". [ak] | 29/9/2015 |

Israeli Mayor Calls to Dismiss Teacher Who Attended Palestinian Protest | | Yarden Skop and Ilan Lior - Ha`aretz - Herzl Schubert, history
teacher at the ORT school in Ramat Gan, is at the focus of a
concerted campaign by right wing groups demanding his dismissal,
because of his being recognized among activists at a highly publicized protest in Nabi
Salah on the West Bank. Ramat Gan mayor Yisrael Zinger joined in:
“There is no place for a person who attacked Israel Defense Forces
soldiers in the education of our city’s children” - paying no regard
to the fact that Schubert had not attacked any soldier, his sole
guilt being at a demonstration when a Palestinian mother struggled
with a soldier arresting her 12-year son. The ORT school system,
Schubert`s employer, stated "This concerns an incident which took
place outside working hours and without any connection to school
activity. The issue is currently under examination, per instructions
from the Education Ministry." [ak] | 1/9/2015 |
