|Bil’in Under Fire: Peaceful Resistance Meets Assailment||Jennifer Urgilez -
The systematic arrest of Bil’in activists begins with the covert intrusion of Israeli soldiers into Bil’in at the stroke of midnight. From the west, soldiers cross the Separation Wall in military vehicles concealed under a blanket of darkness...Raids usually comprised of approximately 100 soldiers divided into groups of 20-30 men, each encircling the home of an accused stone-thrower at varying hours of the night, are ideal for operations in highly volatile regions, but not to detain a 16-year-old child taking part in a peaceful resistance movement.

I continue to be amazed and humbled by the resiliency and determination of all the people I met in Gaza when I was there earlier this month as a member of a delegation led by the US group Code Pink. We went to witness the devastation of the latest Israeli attacks and the continued hardships of the blockade, and to bring aid and support to the children of Gaza. We left with much more than we brought, even though we were the first group able to bring in toys and books since the attacks in December, and we built three playgrounds.

|Stopping settlements = "Ethnic Cleansing"?||J Street -
No way. The Israel Project, a right-wing media advocacy group, has taken criticism of President Obama`s Middle East policy to a new low, equating stopping settlements with "ethnic cleansing."
...We know that a settlement freeze - as well as an end to Palestinian incitement and violence - are critical first steps towards the two-state solution and, therefore, a secure, Jewish, democratic Israel. Using terms like "ethnic cleansing" to undermine that agenda is incendiary, dangerous, and counterproductive.

Yael Lerer, founder of the Andalus publishing house, said the two had been held for three and a half hours while she waited for them outside the crossing. Lewis said they were detained because their names sounded Jewish and Israeli to the soldiers; people with Israeli passports are forbidden from entering Gaza. They said Shin Bet security agents questioned Lewis while Klein stood by.
