Caught in Israel`s Activist Ban | | Rabbi Alissa Wise - JVP (Jewish Voice for Peace) - Five nonviolent
activists — Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faith leaders — were
forbidden to board a plane from Washington to Israel. Neither the
airline (Lufthansa) or the Israeli government will explain why or
show us documentation. Israel’s hypocrisy in demanding to speak for
all Jews, and denying a rabbi entry because of her beliefs, is not
lost on me. But it’s not about me personally being prevented from
boarding a plane. The larger issue is Israel’s attempt to sabotage
genuine partnerships between Palestinians, Israelis, and people all
around the world working for equality and justice. [ak] | 25/7/2017 |

J Street, a Reliable Foe of BDS, Urges Congress to Oppose Israel Anti-Boycott Act | | Zaid Jilani- The Intercept - The Israel Anti-Boycott Actwould levy
penalties of up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine —
leading many to claim, such as the ACLU did, that it is a serious
threat to free speech. J Street, founded in late 2007 to promote a
two-state solution, opposes the Israeli occupation and general
treatment of the Palestinians, but also its activists regularly find
themselves at odds with left-wing groups such as Jewish Voices for
Peace and Students for Justice in Palestine who view BDS as the best
way to end the occupation of the Palestinians. J Street often
lobbies in favor of anti-BDS legislation. However, the Israel Anti-
Boycott Act is a step too far for even these reliable opponents of
BDS. J Street now sent an email to foreign policy staffers on
Capitol Hill urging them to oppose the legislation as it is
currently written, primarily because of its impact on free speech.

has around 30 students, about evenly split between Israelis and
Palestinians. They come from schools in East and West Jerusalem, are
Christian, Jewish and Muslim, and represent a range of political
beliefs.-rh | 12/7/2017 |

Pro-Palestinian activists disrupt Radiohead concert in Scotland | | COS Festival News - Next week, Radiohead are due to take the stage
in Tel Aviv. The performance has drawn controversy from Palestinian
activists, and a group of musicians including Roger Waters, Thurston
Moore, and Tunde Adebimpe signed an open letter calling on Radiohead
to cancel the Tel Aviv concert. During Radiohead’s concert at the
TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow, Scotland, there was a strong presence of
activists from Glasgow Palestine Action, Glasgow Palestine
Solidarity Campaign, and Radiohead Fans for Palestine. When
Radiohead took the stage, they were met by a sea of Palestinian
flags and signs. Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke appeared agitated by
the protestors. Prior to the band’s performance of “Myxomatosis”, he
repeatedly exclaimed, “Some fucking people!” while staring out into
the crowd. He was also caught giving the middle finger.[ak] | 11/7/2017 |

A disaster! An American Jewish BDS supporter slipped in! | | Yael Marom - +972 Magazine - Last Thursday Israel Hayom - the
widely-circulated paper owned by the right-wing gambling tycoon
Sheldon Adelson - carried a sensational headline: “BDS activist
tricks authorities, enters Israel against protocol”. What the paper
called "a disaster" referred to Ariel Gold, a prominent activist in
the left-wing feminist organization, CODEPINK, getting through Ben
Gurion Airport and getting to Hebron, to attend the trial of
Palestinian human rights defender Issa Amro. "I was
interrogated by the airport security. I told them I support
Palestinian human rights and international law, and believe only in
nonviolence as a way to achieve that. BDS is certainly a non-violent
way". [ak] | 11/7/2017 |

What does it take to support excellent journalism in Israel/Palestine? | | Philip Weiss -
Mondoweiss
"To work as a journalist in Palestine means to expect at any moment
injury, arrest, or even death,” writes reporter Linda Shalash. “Why
do I keep reporting despite the danger and abuse? If I face death in
order to help build a better tomorrow—well, there is no more
important cause for which to take such a risk.” ca | 7/7/2017 |
